2016 Albariño

Albariño grapes are known for their distinctive botanical aroma, suggesting hints of apricots and peaches. Our Albariño has adapted wonderfully to the North County micro-climate here in Valley Center. We have found it to grow robustly in the initial planting.

unique terrior

Jack Simon Vineyards is a California wine estate producing Rhone style blends and Iberian varieties.  The vineyard sits high in the foothills of Palomar Mountain with an ocean view 30 miles to the west. The vineyard terroir consists of decomposed granite, plenty of sunshine and cool ocean breezes blowing unobstructed through the coastal valleys to our unique location. Warm days and cool nights, well draining soils that retain warmth make for ideal wine grape cultivation.

Our 100 acre estate includes plantings of Mourvèdre, Tempranillo, Grenache, Albariño, Picardin, Loureiro, Macabeo, Carignan and Arinto. Our wines will feature unique blends and rich mono-varietals. We seek to express the unique style of Southern California. Our artisnal hand crafted wines will echo the success of warmer regions such as the Cote du Rhone and various regions of Spain.
